Kolon Chemical Co. (Korea) has developed a line of systems referred to as HIRENOL based on Aromatic Hydrocarbon Polymer resins (hydrocarbon resins) to be used

as low viscosity extenders among others, epoxy resins, granting multiple advantages to the formulations.

Hirenol resins are to be specially used in Systems Without Solvents, in systems with High -Solid Content, or where the black color of the coal tar epoxy is undesirable.

With HIRENOL extenders, finished products in clear colors can be obtained enabling a considerable reduction in manufacturing costs and maintaining and improving the final properties of the systems compared to traditional epoxy formulations and other types of extenders, diluents, etc.

HIRENOL resins are characterized by their clear color, excellent UVresistance, low viscosity, minimum volatile content and non-toxic properties, and they are also designed for use with the epoxy systems as well as the acrylic and polyurethanes systems.
